Strategic Alliances: Companies We Recommend
There are certain other consultancies that we have worked with and believe in. Their core competencies and missions differ from that of BBA, but we do tend to complement each other. We have a common belief that our top priority is serving our clients and providing great value.
BBA endorses and recommends Golden Shovel Agency, Executive Pulse, Context Design Group and North Texas Urban Services.
The Golden Shovel Agency is a full-service economic development marketing firm with a strong focus on website development and online communications. They offer many different communication services but they know economic development.
Golden Shovel and BBA announced a strategic partnership on May 17, 2018. In a press release, the two companies explained the relationship.
“We occasionally come across communities that want to use our array of communications services, but they haven’t done the necessary groundwork for us to fully help. BBA can help with that foundational work, so that we at Golden Shovel can better serve our clients,” said John Marshall, president of Golden Shovel.
Dean Barber, principal of BBA, agreed with Marshall, saying the complementary aspects of the two firms became apparent during discussions.
“BBA works for our economic development clients to develop what will be an actionable formula for success. In doing so, we provide an outline for a business case to be made,” said Barber. “GSA takes that ball and runs with it. Using the work that we do, they complete the story through an array of great marketing and communication services."

ExecutivePulse has been serving the needs of government, economic and workforce development and allied professions throughout North America since 1996. The company provides customer-focused technology, training and support for business retention and expansion (BR&E), business recruitment, entrepreneurial development and workforce initiatives. But it is best known for its work in BR&E.
Since 1996, ExecutivePulse Founder and President Laith Wardi has provided business retention and expansion certification training for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). He is consistently among the highest rated instructors for that international organization.
Laith is also an instructor for the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute (OUEDI). He provides instruction for their online business retention and expansion
course offering which dovetails with, and expands upon, IEDC curriculum. Laith regularly speaks to audiences throughout North America on BR&E, database marketing and the assimilation of technology.
"I took Laith's BR&E course through the IEDC about 15 years ago and I was blown away. It was truly an eye-opening experience. I learned that economic development was far more than just industry attraction," said BBA Principal Dean Barber.

Based in Greenville, S.C., Context Design Group provides integrated industrial planning and design services to corporate clients.
Using proven programming techniques, Context Design Group offers clients process-focus design that shows how a future facility would look and operate on any given site to meet “big picture” objectives. BBA and Context Design Group announced their strategic alliance on Oct. 7, 2018. You can read the press release here.
The company delivers long-term, strategic solutions by creating an operational master plan that accounts for a company’s processes, organizational structure and changing needs for the future.
David Lewis founded Context Design Group in 2002. Lewis and Barber first met in 2001 when Barber was working at the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, and Lewis was involved in the design of the Hyundai assembly plant in Montgomery, Ala.
“This alliance between BBA and Context Design Group makes a lot of sense because now we are able to offer more and better services to companies that are looking to expand in new locations. We can also help economic development organizations that need a newly designed industrial park,” said Dean Barber, principal at BBA.
